Birthday Party FAQs

Q: How will I be notified about confirmation of my party?

A: We will send an email confirmation after we receive your deposit. A reservation without a deposit is not guaranteed.

Q: How can I pay for my party?

A: You may pay by cash, check, or credit card, either in-person or over the phone.

Q: If I have to cancel my party, can I get a refund?

A: If you cancel your party with at least 4 weeks advance notice, you will receive a full refund. There are no refunds given after 4 weeks notice.

Q: What is the maximum number of guests?

A: Your party package includes admission for up to 50 guests (includes birthday party family). 25 seats will be provided in the Learning Lab.​

Q: What is on the first floor of the museum for birthday party guests to explore?

A: The Adventure Climbers, Power of Flight, Manoomin, STEM, Little Explorers, and more are available for your guests.

Q: Where should my guests meet?

A: All visitors should check-in with our front desk staff, who will direct them to the Learning Lab.

Q: What time can we arrive?

A: Arrival time is set for 15 minutes prior to the start of your party. The birthday space will not be available until then. We want your party to be a great experience and our staff may still be using this time to set up.

Q: Can parents drop off their children for my party and where?

A: You must designate an adult from your party to meet children who are being dropped off. Children’s Museum staff are not responsible for children dropped off for your party.

Q: What is the required parent: child ratio?

A: 1 adult is required for every ten children.

Q: Can I bring in food to serve to my guests?

A: Yes, prepared food may be brought in. However, there is no refrigerator space available.

Q: Do I provide my own plates, napkins, and utensils?

A: Yes. The Duluth Children’s Museum does not provide plates, napkins, cups, serving dishes or utensils for your party.

Q: Can I bring in decorations?

A: You are welcome to bring in your own decorations, however, the use of tape, pins, tacks, staples, and ladders are strictly prohibited. Tabletop or free-standing decorations are preferred.
